They are not mass-produced items, and they are not made to follow trends. Each one is created with time, intention, and care.

Are these toys?

No — not in the conventional sense.

While Thread Tales companions may resemble animals or familiar forms, they are not designed for rough play or novelty use. They are companions meant to be held, kept close, and lived alongside.

Some are welcomed by children, others by adults. The intention is presence, not entertainment.

How do I choose the right companion?

Begin with how you feel, not with appearance.

The archetypes offer guidance based on emotional states and life moments rather than specific forms. You may find clarity quickly, or you may need time to read and sit with the descriptions.

There is no “correct” choice. Recognition matters more than certainty.

What if I connect with an archetype but not the suggested forms?

That is exactly why The Book of Forms exists.

If the archetype resonates but the suggested animals or forms do not, you may explore the full range of forms that can carry the same presence. Preferences can be noted during the intake process.

Are companions always available?

No.

Thread Tales is a small, slow studio. Only a limited number of companions are created each week. Availability depends on current capacity, materials, and the nature of each request.

Some companions are created by request, others appear quietly when they are ready.

How long does it take to receive a companion?

Because each companion is made by hand, timelines vary.

After your intake form is submitted, you will be contacted with an estimated timeframe. Making is never rushed. The pace of the work is part of its integrity.

Can companions be personalized?

Yes — within thoughtful limits.

Personalization may include story card elements or small details discussed during the intake process. Requests that compromise the integrity, form, or presence of the companion may be gently declined.

What materials are used?

Thread Tales companions are crocheted using natural cotton yarn and filled with high-quality polyester fiber. Some companions may include weighted glass beads for grounding.

All materials are chosen for durability, comfort, and longevity.

Are the companions safe?

Companions are created with care and attention to construction, but they are not tested or certified as toys.

If a companion is intended for a baby or very young child, this must be discussed in advance so appropriate materials and construction can be considered.

Can I wash or clean a companion?

Light surface cleaning is recommended.

Due to the handmade nature and materials, machine washing is not advised. Specific care guidance may be included with your companion.

Do you accept returns or exchanges?

Because each companion is made individually and often by request, returns and exchanges are generally not possible.

If there is an issue with craftsmanship, please reach out — care and responsibility remain part of the work.

Is this a form of therapy?

No.

Thread Tales companions are not medical or therapeutic tools. They do not replace professional care or treatment.

They are objects of presence — made to be held, kept, and lived with — and many people find comfort in that simplicity.

There is no obligation to proceed quickly. Some people arrive ready; others return later. Both are welcome.

Where is Thread Tales based?

Thread Tales is a studio located in Europe, mainly Czech Republic. The work is created across Central and Southern Europe, with making and shipping handled from within the European Union (Schengen Area).

Where do you ship?

We ship primarily within the European Union and Schengen Area.

Shipping outside the EU may be possible in some cases, but availability depends on destination, timing, and customs requirements.

If you are unsure whether delivery to your country is possible, you are welcome to ask before submitting an intake form.

Will I have to pay customs or import taxes?

For deliveries within the EU / Schengen Area, no additional import taxes apply.

For deliveries outside the EU, local customs duties, import taxes, or handling fees may be charged by the destination country. These charges are not included in the price of the companion and are the responsibility of the recipient.

We recommend checking your country’s import regulations before proceeding.

Can you ship outside the European Union?

In some cases, yes — but thoughtfully and selectively.

Because Thread Tales is a small, slow studio, international shipping outside the EU is considered on an individual basis. Additional time, paperwork, and customs handling may apply.
